Vick Lavender

Vick Lavender is a veteran DJ and producer from Chicago, renowned for his work in the deep and soulful house music genres. As the founder of Sophisticado Recordings and co-owner of the Bridgeport Record Store (Chicago), he has spent over 30 years blending musical styles like world music, jazz fusion, and R&B into his unique sound, which is often described as spiritual and deeply soulful.
His career began in the mid-90s as part of Glenn Underground's Strictly Jaz Unit, leading to his first release, "Medone's Thought," on Defender Records. He later co-founded the live deep house band Mr. A.L.I. (African Latin Influences) releasing standout tracks like "Missing You" and "Cast Your Spell" on the legendary NYC Label West End Records.
Through his own label, Sophisticado Recordings, Lavender's music caught the attention of NYC Label Head Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, who began releasing his tracks on vinyl through Sacred Rhythm Music. This partnership introduced his distinct sound to a wider audience with tracks like "1.4.4.5" and "G.I.R.L." Today, Lavender's music is championed by a list of heavyweights including Louie Vega, Ron Trent, and Kai Alcé, and he has earned a loyal global following as a Producer and as a DJ.
